◾ Legal IT Insider (LITI) reports acquisition news with its post about BigHand’s purchase of law for pricing company Ayora. From LITI’s post:

“BigHand today (4 August) announced the acquisition of legal AI pricing specialist Ayora, in a move that it says marks the next phase in its AI strategy.
​
“Ayora uses historic data to help lawyers and pricing teams create real time matter pricing, but within the breadth of the BigHand portfolio, it is anticipated that its agentic technology can be used well beyond that.”

Fundraising

◾ Wordsmith extends its Series B with a $14 million add-on raise, as reported in a post today, August 5, 2026 by Artificial Lawyer (AL).

“Wordsmith has raised a $14 million extension to their June Series B round, led with new investment from Intact Private Capital, alongside existing investors Highland Europe and Index Ventures. FT Ventures has also become a shareholder in Wordsmith, they added.”

◾ Artificial Lawyer (AL) reports a pre-seed raise of £1.5 million by litigation startup Aavalynx.

◾ SeedLegals is the company that accelerates startup fundraising by providing ". . . agile funding services [to] help founders raise money, from one-off investments to a full funding round and top-ups in between." The company's founder and CEO, Anthony Rose, has posted on LinkedIn about SeedLegals' recently launched MCP server, which allows startups in fundraising mode to connect Claude or ChatGPT to the SeedLegals platform.

◾ BigLaw’s Akerman hires an Amazon and Kirkland & Ellis alum to fill a newly created AI governance role at the law firm, as reported in a Legaltech News (LTN) post.

“Am Law 100 firm Akerman on Thursday announced that it has created a new artificial intelligence governance leadership role, and the firm tapped former Amazon and Kirkland & Ellis counsel Michael Adler for the job.

“Adler, who is based in Washington, D.C., will serve as Akerman’s new director of AI governance and data protection within Akerman Intelligence, which is the law firm’s platform for AI strategy, research and thought leadership. He will simultaneously serve as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice group.”

◾ Now it’s Anthropic’s turn to pluck a founder from legal tech and put that founder into a senior role to further the foundation lab’s AI-for-legal ambitions, as reported in a post by Legaltech News (LTN):

◾ Bob Ambrogi has an exclusive at his LawSites blog, posting about Paravo, a start-up emerging ntoday, August 6, 2026, from stealth that's focused on the revenue generation side of legal practice. As Bob reports, Paravo aims to provide a “revenue engine” for consumer-facing, fixed fee/contingency fee law firms in the US and the UK.
